More than a decade ago, I became a data scientist and helped build human + AI/ML systems for collecting debt and data like annual income, credit rating, phone logs, phone numbers, emails, and postal addresses, and my conscience has since determined it was a mass privacy violation. Why is it still harder to voluntarily share this sensitive information with my spouse or advisor than it was to harvest via “legal” channels? The bigger question was: Who would I even blow the whistle to? And if the executives intentionally and secretly made the algos racist, how would I even show proof after 10+ years?
Although I would like the answers to these questions, there are some prior questions to resolve first:
- How do I have ongoing and encrypted correspondence with attorney, lawyer, or advisor that is free from eavesdropping, interceptions, and subpoenas so I can anonymously report the privacy abuses and racist algorithm and cooperatively be apart of the solution?
- Given that attorney live and die on email in spite of government eavesdropping and interceptions of emails being so commonplace, how can I establish a long-term, secure, and trusted relationship and encrypted correspondence with a lawyer on something other than Signal.org?
