The Graduation Family Celebration

She traveled with their boys today, In her Highlander, gleaming bright, To celebrate in their own way This milestone moment, doubtless delight.

With two matching shirts, shoes tied neat, Nearly bursting with mother’s pride they came, She packed them up for this sweet feat, Ready to cheer at their big game.

“Where’s Papa?” asked the pristinely groomed son, Adjusting his borrowed graduation cap, “He’s celebrating too, sweet one, Just from a different spot on the map.”

The school gymnasium filled with chairs, All arranged for families to meet, She found their seats with loving cares, Made their day of triumph complete, This celebration, oh so sweet.

What child deserves to feel such joy, On their special graduation day? Each precious girl and precious boy Should know their family’s love will stay In all the different forms it takes, Through every choice that parents make.

The principal spoke of futures bright, About the paths that lay ahead, She clapped with all her loving might, Celebrating what lay unsaid— That families come in many forms, And love can weather any storms.

She clapped for two but heard just one, In measured beats that sound like time Moving forward, never done, Each moment precious and sublime, A family’s love that never ends, Though paths may part, the heart transcends.

And someday soon these boys will know That love takes many different shapes, Through all the ways that children grow, And all of life’s sweet escapes, They’ll understand with wisdom’s sight That every family finds its light.
