Combining Your Workflow - Personal Bonus Project
With Obsidian.md as your note-taking core, Share.Note.sx for sharing, FolderNote for organization, and Waypoints for navigation, you’ve created a powerful and flexible system for managing your digital information.
Previous Guide Required: Getting Started with Obsidian.md + Share.Note.sx + FolderNote + Prism Theme
We skip steps 1 and 2 because you should already have Obsidian.md editor and Share.Note.sx + FolderNote + Waypoints plugins setup and working.
Step 3: Creating Your Markdown Profile
- Create a New Note: Click the ”+” icon in Obsidian to create a new note. Name it something like “My Markdown Profile.”
- Write Your Profile: Fill your note with Markdown content that represents your personal or professional profile. Include sections like About Me, Skills, Experience, Projects, and Contact Information. Use Markdown formatting for headers, lists, links, etc.
Step 4: Organizing Your Profile with FolderNote
- Create a New Folder: In your vault, create a new folder named “Profile Sections.”
- Generate Folder Notes: Right-click the folder and use the FolderNote plugin to create a master note for the folder. This will serve as the landing page for your profile’s sections.
- Organize Sections into Subfolders: Create subfolders within “Profile Sections” for different aspects of your profile (e.g., Skills, Experience). Use FolderNote to create notes for each subfolder, detailing each section of your profile.
Step 5: Enhancing Navigation with Waypoints
- Link Your Profile Sections: In the master folder note, use markdown links (
[Link Text](path/to/note)) to link to each section’s folder note. If using Waypoints, configure navigation shortcuts or commands to easily navigate between these sections. - Refine Your Profile’s Usability: Ensure that navigating your profile feels intuitive. Test the links or navigation commands to make sure they lead to the correct sections.
Step 6: Sharing Your Profile with Share.Note.sx
- Share Individual Sections or Entire Profile: Decide if you want to share your entire profile or just specific sections.
- Use Share.Note.sx for Sharing:
- Open the note or folder note you wish to share.
- Access the command palette (
Ctrl+PorCmd+P), then search for and execute “Share current note” to generate an encrypted link through Share.Note.sx.
- Distribute Your Profile: Share the generated links with your intended audience, ensuring they have access to your encrypted, markdown-based profile.
Step 7: Review and Iterate
- Review Your Profile: Navigate through your profile as if you were an outsider. Check for ease of navigation, content clarity, and overall presentation.
- Iterate Based on Feedback: As you receive feedback or identify areas for improvement, make adjustments to your profile. This might involve refining content, improving navigation, or updating shared links.
By following these steps, you create a dynamic and navigable Markdown profile that leverages the best features of Obsidian.md and its plugins. This profile can serve as a personal or professional portfolio, presenting your information in an organized, accessible, and secure manner.
